Assistant Superintendent

Dr. Erin Anderson brings 27 years of experience in public education to the GMSD, serving in a variety of instructional and leadership roles. A proud graduate of Alvernia University, Dr. Anderson earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership before completing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Neumann University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Anderson has been dedicated to supporting students, teachers, and school communities. He began his journey as a classroom teacher in 1999, teaching 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades before transitioning into administration. Dr. Anderson has spent the past 19 years in administrative roles including Dean of Students, Middle School Instructional Supervisor, Building Principal, Acting Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendent.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Anderson is happily married to his best friend, Lori, for 24 wonderful years. Together, they have two amazing children, Hannah and Carter, and share their home with two loving and faithful pups, Bo and Luke.

Dr. Anderson is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Mustang Nation and deeply committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence across the Governor Mifflin School District—always keeping students at the heart of every decision.

As an educational leader, I am committed to cultivating innovation, creativity, and critical thinking in every classroom. I believe in empowering others through collaboration, trust, and shared purpose. Grounded in passion and guided by integrity, I strive each day to support and sustain teaching excellence and ensure the success of every student. I am committed to assisting Dr. Hess in the development of a world-class education system that is intentional in its work and ensures all students find their PASSION, PURPOSE, and PATH.

1. Assist the Superintendent in educational and extracurricular course offerings and district-wide initiatives and provide specific recommendations around strengths, concerns and adjustments (if any). 
    
2. Become embedded in the community through visibility at school events, partnership building, and engaging the key communicators groups. 
    
3. Develop a clear communications protocol in partnership with the Superintendent that outlines the 'rules of engagement' with the Board as well as the district-at-large. 

It is the responsibility of the Governor Mifflin School Board of Directors through the district Superintendent to conduct a yearly performance evaluation for the district Assistant Superintendent. Dr. Anderson was appointed to the position as of June 9, 2025.
