About Dr. Lisa Hess
Biography
Dr. Lisa Hess is many things, but first and foremost, she is a proud Mustang. She completed the entirety of her K-12 education with Governor Mifflin and is a proud member of the Governor Mifflin High School Class of 1992. She has served 17 years of her 27-year career in education with our district as an English teacher, Associate Principal, Acting Principal, Director of Teaching and Learning, Assistant Superintendent, and as Superintendent.
Dr. Hess brings to this position a wealth of knowledge in both educational and leadership practices. She holds a Bachelor of Science in English Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Education and Principal Certification from Cabrini College, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She also participated in Albright Total Experience Learning’s first educator cohort and champions the principles of student-centered, future-focused learning.

Dr. Hess places a great deal of importance on a school system which teaches students not what to think, but how to think. With an educational philosophy that hinges on student voice and choice, real-world application and opportunity, and strengthening and leveraging community connection for the benefit of our students, teachers, and larger Governor Mifflin community stakeholders. For the 2024-2025 school year, Dr. Hess' strategy will be informed by the need to revolutionize education through the development of a world-class education system that is intentional in its work and ensures all students find their PASSION, PURPOSE, and PATH.

OBJECTIVE PERFORMANCE STANDARD 1:
- To continue to develop the Governor Mifflin School Board in continuous improvement, professional learning, and board meeting updates.
- SHARED VISION. An education leader promotes personalized student success by thinking and planning strategically to create and sustain an organizational vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.
- Collaborates with others, uses proper data to set up rigorous, concrete goals in the context of student achievement and instructional programs.
- Aligns and implements the educational program, plans, actions and resources with the district’s vision and goals.

- To promote the Governor Mifflin School District in various venues to highlight the positive work of our students, staff, administration, and/or our community.
- ADVOCACY. An education leader promotes personalized student success by advocating for children and public education in the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context.
- Collaborates with community agencies and other decision makers to improve students’ wellbeing.
- Advocates for policies and practices to improve the welfare of students.
- Communicates with all constituencies to advance the mission and goals of the district.
- Communicates with all constituencies to advance the mission of public education
- ADVOCACY. An education leader promotes personalized student success by advocating for children and public education in the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context.

Evaluations
It is the responsibility of the Governor Mifflin School Board of Directors to conduct a yearly performance evaluation for the district Superintendent. Dr. Hess was appointed to the position as of July 1, 2023.
