Gifted Education

Chapter 16 of the PA Code specifies how Pennsylvania will meet its obligations to suspected and identified gifted students who require gifted education to reach their potential. Gifted students are to be provided with quality gifted education services and programs.

Students in the Governor Mifflin School District (GMSD) who are identified to have exceptional academic abilities are provided with a program that includes specially designed instruction that will meet their intellectual and creative abilities. Eligible students will receive gifted education services via their Gifted Individual Education Plan (GIEP) following a multidisciplinary team evaluation.

If your child's teacher suspects he or she is gifted, you will be notified of the procedures for screening and evaluation for gifted services. For further information on GMSD’s Gifted Education Program please call your child’s principal or school counselor.
