Good afternoon, Mustang Nation:

We hope this messaage finds you well and that your summer is off to a great start. This summer is a big one for us at Governor Mifflin as we have officially started on Phase Three of our construction project. Phase Three is a very exciting and integral part of this project, as we proceed to recapture the existing gym and locker room spaces in our middle school and high school buildings (which are no longer needed due to the construction of GMACC) and reconfigure our buildings to optimize accessibility and create additional academic and performing arts spaces. A full breakdown of these action items are available on our building project website.

It is important to note that, although we are keeping a rigorous construction schedule for the summer months, construction is not anticipated nor intended to be complete for the start of the 2025-2026 school year. In other words, construction will be ongoing when students return to school, however we plan to continue this work in a way that minimizes interruption to student learning and the instructional process. When we are closer to the start of the school year, we will let our students, families, and faculty at the affected buildings know what modifications, if any, should be expected as a result of construction.

For the summer months, the Governor Mifflin Middle School office will be located at Governor Mifflin Intermediate School (600 Governor Drive, Shillington, PA 19607). Those who need to access the Middle School due to a program (such as Summer Zone) should do so only via the stairwell door closest to Governor Mifflin Education Center (Door #4) or the loading dock door (Door #17). All other entrance areas are to be used by construction personnel only. Those entering Governor Mifflin High School should use the main office entrance only.  Finally, the Waverly St. side of the Governor Mifflin High School parking lot will have five parking spaces available, including two designated handicapped spaces; however, due to ongoing site work in that area, the remainder of the lot will be inaccessible. An updated traffic map reflecting this change will be posted prior to the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind our community that regular updates regarding construction progress are presented at Governor Mifflin School Board work meetings. Those unable to attend the meetings in person can view the slide decks in the meeting agendas posted to BoardDocs or watch the full meeting recordings posted here

We thank you for your patience and continued cooperation as we undergo this process.

Sincerely,
Dr. Lisa Hess, Superintendent
Mr. Tim Ziegler, Director of Operations
