Summer Swim Lesson 2023

Please review carefully as registration and lessons will be in a different format than in years past. Registration for all three summer sessions will be held, Wednesday, May 31st from 6:30-8:00 pm in the GMIS Café. Registration is first come first serve and will be held in the GMIS poolside café. If you are unable to attend the registration, send a friend, or email Kyle.Kuser@gmsd.org the day after; there may be some availability remaining. There are NO pre-registrations accepted. Cash, check, or money orders are accepted.  Checks and MO are to be made payable to Governor Mifflin School District (GMSD).

Registration this year will be held electronically for sessions 2 and 3. Registration will open as an announcement on the Governor Mifflin webpage, 2nd session June 16th at 12 pm, 3rd session June 30th at 12 pm. Registration will be first come first serve. If the time is no longer listed on the Google form, the class you are trying to register for is full and will not accept any more participants. Lessons will be held Monday through Thursday for two weeks for a total of 8 classes. Class times and information are listed below.       

 

Learn-to-Swim Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills       

Fee:      
Resident           $70.00 per session
Non-resident     $80.00 per session

Prerequisites for this level are 5 years old or 48 inches tall or taller. The objective of Level 2 is to give participants success with fundamental skills.  Participants learn to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills.  Participants continue to explore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to lay the foundation for future strokes.

Advanced Swim Lessons  (Learn-to-Swim Levels 3, 4, 5, 6)                                

Fee:      
Resident              $70.00 per session
Non-resident   $80.00 per session

These classes are a continuation of the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Curriculum.  All classes are instructed by a certified Water Safety Instructor.  Students will learn advanced skills and strokes such as sidestroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.  To enroll in an advanced course, the student must have successfully passed the previous course.  Red Cross cards showing that the course was successfully completed should be shown at registration.  Come to the season-appropriate registration to register.

 

Level 3                  Stroke Development (Must have passed level 2)

Level 4                 Stroke Improvement (Must have passed level 3)

Level 5                 Stroke Refinement (Must have passed level 4)

Level 6                 Fitness Swimmer (Must have passed level 5)

                             Fundamentals of Diving (Must have passed level 5)

Summer Recreation Swims:

The pool will be open for recreational swimming, use of diving boards, parents with small children, adult lap swimming, and adult aqua walking/jogging.  Cancellations due to school functions and maintenance will be posted in advance.  Come to any recreation swim to register.  Registration is good for the fall, spring, and summer sessions.

Fees:    
Registration Cards: $20.00 per person and cards are valid for the current school year.                                                   

Daily Fees:         

Adult - $2.00 (with registration card)

Student - $1.50 (with registration card)

Families - $4.00 (3 to 5 people with registration card)

Adult Guest - $5.00 (without registration card)

Student Guest - $3.00 (without registration card)

Senior Citizen – free (with registration card)

Preschool – free (with registration card)
