Mr. McKay is to retire after completion of 2022-2023 school year. Here are our next steps.
Governor Mifflin School District Community,
In September 2022, Governor Mifflin School District Superintendent Bill McKay submitted his intent to retire to the School Board of Directors. His intent to retire was officially accepted on Monday, September 19 at the School Board Voting Meeting. Mr. McKay will continue to serve as the district Superintendent through the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year; his retirement will take effect as of June 30, 2023.
Throughout the month of October, our school board collaborated with district administration to lay the framework for the Superintendent Search, a process which the board will begin this month. Mr. McKay’s retirement is undoubtedly bittersweet for our district. While we are sad to see him go, we are also immensely grateful for all that he has given to our district. He has provided leadership and guidance through some of the most trying years not just in our district, but in our world. He has shown unwavering commitment to creating the best version of Mustang Nation. He has educated, inspired, and empowered not only our students, but also our staff. Mr. McKay’s impact cannot be understated and we are unendingly thankful to have him as part of our Governor Mifflin community.
As stakeholders in our Governor Mifflin community, your input is extremely valuable in this process. Please keep an eye out for a community survey coming soon regarding the superintendency. We will update our community accordingly with details of the search and inform you when a candidate is selected to fill the role. We appreciate your time, participation, and cooperation as we enter this new era in our district together.
Thank you,
Governor Mifflin School District
