Wellness Check-Ins

To support student safety, well-being, and active learning, Pennsylvania state law (Act 20) now mandates regular wellness check-ins for all full-time virtual students. These brief interactions ensure our online learners stay safe, supported, and connected with school staff.

What to Expect

  • Frequency: Every full-time virtual student must participate in a live wellness check-in at least once per week while school is in session.
  • Format: Check-ins are conducted in real time via virtual meetings or other approved video platforms.
  • Requirement: Both cameras and microphones must be turned on during the check-in to confirm attendance and well-being.
  • Attendance Policy: These check-ins are required by state law and cannot be excused. Any missed scheduled check-ins will be rescheduled and completed within 48 hours.

The Purpose of Wellness Checks

These check-ins are non-academic.  GM Gold teacher will be allowed to:

  • Verify student safety and health
  • Build meaningful relationships with students and families
  • Identify any barriers to attendance or learning early
  • Connect families with support services whenever needed
  • Keep students engaged in their educational journey

How Families Can Help

Families can help by ensuring students attend their live check-ins with their camera and microphone ready. If a conflict comes up, please reach out to your child’s GM Gold teacher right away so they can help set up a makeup check-in within 48 hours.
