Instructional Materials Review and Exemption from Instruction
Both state and federal laws in Pennsylvania provide parents with the right to review instructional materials and access information about the curriculum, including academic standards, teacher manuals, films, tapes, supplemental resources, evaluations, and assessment methods. These rights are established under 20 U.S. Code §1232h and 22 Pa. Code §4.4. Additionally, parents or guardians who wish to have their child excused from instruction that conflicts with their religious beliefs must submit a written request to the district. For more detailed information, please refer to Board Policy 105.1: Review of Instructional Materials by Parents/Guardians and Students and Board Policy 105.2:
Exemption from Instruction.
